IS AUDI REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT HYBRID TECH?

You sometimes get the sense that Audi doesn’t take the whole hybrid malarkey seriously. Somehow, the impression is that it's built cars like this A8 Hybrid to stop its US and Japanese dealers pestering it. Indeed, built them so it can have the clear head space to develop low-emission alternatives that it thinks actually work-- because this one largely doesn’t!

Audi also thinks its A8 Hybrid needs to be cost effective, which is why it's putting its aluminium-framed A8 flagship into the fray with a four-cylinder engine where a big six or eight-pot would normally sit.
